In agreement with the recent reviews, the front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. That is much appreciated when you have been travelling for a long time. Some good tips on eating nearby. Great breakfast downstairs if you would rather not go out in the morning. Request your coffee to the staff at entering and served at your table. The room was larger than we expected. We are a couple of 35 years with lots of traveling the world, so we are used to close anyway. Everything provided. We did ask for a few more coffee packages in the room (we were working part time), no problem. Electrical plugs on each side of the bed. Even a small computer working shelf space w chair. The rooftop looked really fun. We only were up there for a short conversation with a wonderful guest. It was cold for our visit but there is a nice indoor portion too. Short walk (20 min or less) to anywhere you would want to see in a few days. Would love to come again sometime.

Great hotel overall: clean, comfortable and close to most attractiions with excellent staff and service!! The general manager, Jamie, and his team are great and very happy to assist with whatever you need. I needed minor medical attention during our stay. The staff performed first aid and made sure I was able to get to a medical facility and always asked about my well-being during our stay. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are very clean. The breakfast is a great value and the breakfast stuff are wonderful. The buffet has a variety for all diets and is very good and substantial! The staff was happy to accommodate us when we requested a room change. The one negative point about this hotel is that there was quite a bit of noise from the busy main Street (Atocha) or if your room opens to the inner lobby, which can also be very hot due to a lack of airflow. The hotel was in an excellent position and was very good. The bed was comfortable and the room very clean and quiet. The breakfast was superb. Also, what sets this hotel apart from other good hotels is the kindliest, friendliest staff you can imagine. I had a great time at Axel Hotel in Madrid, mostly because of the amazing staff. Right from the start, Jaime at the front desk was friendly and helped me with everything I needed. Nesto was also great in the morning, making sure breakfast was perfect and delicious. But Valentino stood out the most. I approached him at the bar asking for a dinner restaurant recommendation, and he attentively listened to my preferences before suggesting the best restaurant nearby. Plus, you have to try his special cucumber drink at the bar—it’s so good! Valentino was always happy and made everyone feel welcome. He made the bar a place you really want to visit. The Axel Hotel is not only clean and friendly, but also in a great spot in Madrid. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Madrid, and make sure to say hi to Valentino at the bar for a great experience.

This hotel was a great place to stay. The hotel is in a fab location for visiting the centre of Madrid. The hotel room was very clean and spacious. Bed was very comfy and shower was fab. The room also had a hairdryer which was surprisingly very good. Lots of space to put clothes and belongings. Hotel provides water, tea, coffee etc. There is a little fridge with snacks and alcohol which would come at an extra cost if used. We never heard any noise during the night. Very good room. All staff were very kind and welcoming when arriving and leaving. No complaints about this hotel, overall very good and a great little hotel to stay in.
